In my seven short years working in a student-led journalistic environment, I've learned a lot about myself. First, I found out that telling the stories of others is what brings me the most joy in life. I believe that everyone has a story to tell if you dig deep enough. As a journalist, it is my responsibility to find those stories. Most importantly, journalism has been a huge reality check for me. Helping others thrive in your program is more important than going for those individual awards you may crave. As an editor, the way your staff runs and operates is solely based on the example that you create and the work that you produce.

My portfolio details how I've progressed as a journalist from my days writing for my middle school’s one-page newspaper to my time as an Editor-in-Chief for my high school’s journalism program and now my time as a freshman at the University of Mizzou.

2022-2024 SNO distinguished site: Led the effort to earn the SNO distinguished site award for my high schools website FHNtoday and its subsite FHNgameday.

2023 Fall NSPA/JEA National High School journalism convention: The newspaper, the "North Star" I co-ran, and the website I ran FHNtoday.com, were inducted into the NSPA hall of fame. FHNtoday is the only website in the nation to be inducted into the NSPA hall of fame.
