The photos we take can make or break a story. It doesn't matter if it's in printed content or digital content. If the photo does not match the quality of a story, readers will be less inclined to read our work. I have recently started to get more comfortable behind the camera and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite aspects of being a reporter. Below are some of the pictures I have taken with an accompanying headline and caption.

Girls Triumph at Annual Holiday Meet

The girls' swim team celebrated together after coming 1st in the "t-shirt" relay. On Dec. 14th, 2023 the FHN girls' swim team would participate in their annual holiday meet where unique competitions just for fun such as the elf race and t-shirt relay were held. The girls would come third in the elf race and first during the t-shirt relay beating seven other schools in the process.

Annual Sushi and Henna Workshop Sees Waves of Students Particapate

On Dec. 17, 2023 FHN’s Asian American Association hosted its third annual sushi night. Students and teachers could learn how to make sushi rolls, partake in a Henna workshop, or compete in the fan favorite spicy noodle competition. Senior Luis Escobar ended up winning the spicy noodle competition by finishing his four bowls of noodles before his six other competitors.

Special Olympics Shows Support For Disabled Community Through Basketball

On Dec. 17,  2023 the Special Olympics held an event at Francis Howell High where people with disabilities could compete in a knockout style basketball tournament. Competitors ranged from as young as six years old to as old as late forties. All participants received an award at the end of the event that celebrated their overall standing and participation in the event.

An Empty Busch Stadium Prepares For Influx of Fans

On Nov. 10th, 2022 Busch Stadium had a rare off day where the only people at the stadium were the owners and select members of a stadium tour. The Cardinals, who play out of Busch Stadium, were currently in the middle of one of their most viewed season of all time. The season was marked by veteran players Yadier Molina and Albert Pujols who were in the middle of their farewell season. On their rare off day, seats were still being prepared for the next night's game and players and coaches were practicing for the next night's game.

Seniors Lead Team to Last Win of Season

Senior Aiden Manthey kicks a corner shot to set his teammates up for a goal. On Oct. 30, 2023 the FHN boys’ soccer team faced the Pattonville Pirates in the district semifinals where they would go on to win 8-0. The seniors on the team would score seven of the eight goals. This would mark the last win of the season as the Knights would fall in the district finals against the John Burroughs Bombers.
